Copernicus was a astronomer .The theory that came out at first was that the theory that the sun was the center of the solar system. This theory opposed the geocentric theory, in which the earth is the center of the universe.Galileo proved that the geocentric theory was false by using his knowledge of math and science. But then he was sent to trial in church were he took back the things that he said about the theory of being false
